I began playing guitar when I was 11. I took lessons from a family friend
who still mentors me musically to this day. I was drawn to metal early on
in my life. At age 12, I loved WitchMoon and Zero Signal, 2 gothic
industrial rock bands. When I was 13, I fell in love with metalcore bands
such as Integrity, Overcast, Indecision, Cave-In and Converge. By 14, I had
moved on to death metal, doom, and grind bands (Assuck, Suffocation, Hate
Eternal, Siege, Carcass, Flesh Parade, Dark Funeral Soilent Green.) From
the age of 16 until now (I am 21), I have been drawn to the metal sounds of
my hometown, New Orleans. I love Crowbar and Soilent Green tremendously as
well as Black Sabbath and the Melvins - two of the NOLA underground bands'
biggest influences. I am also very interested in the modal metal sounds of
Neurosis, Isis, Pelican, and Intronaut, as well as Tragedy (hardcore punk).
I love music!
My musical goal is to push the boundaries of music. I want to take
everything that has influenced me and create music that is an amalgam of
most of the sub-genres of metal (not as a gimmick-but because I love them
all). I am thankful for the talent that God blessed me with and want to use
it to the fullest.
I co-own Punchthroat Records with my brother. Punchthroat Records in an
independent label that aims to preserve the music of the NOLA underground
and to support artists who play music for fun, but do not tour, as well as
support our own music.
My band is The Art of Self Destruction. We can be best described as gothic,
downtempo, and experimental. The band is an outlet my bandmates and me to
create music with no boundaries or limits. We create music because we love
it, and we create it to please ourselves first and foremost. It is an
incredible honor that others love, appreciate, and support our music.
We have recorded our first CD and are in the process of mixing/mastering it.
It will be available in the summer of 2007.
