I have played Conklin basses now for five years and have become a real believer in your products. I have played 7 string bolt on GT'S and neck through Bill Dicken's models, and prefer the neck through with the active Bartolinis. I have never played a bass with a clearer high end than the Conklin. A has-been guitar player, I love the option of tuning the bottom 6 like a guitar and playing chords and leads. I think the tone of the Conklin, in the upper register, is much like that of a Les Paul. My favorite thing to do is to rattle off some 9th chords in the upper end--what a great, crisp sound I get and what a shocked reaction I get from my audiences when I go into multi-octave solos. I play through distortion, Bass Bawls, Delay, and RC-20 loop pedals and get whatever sound I want. The possibilities are endless.
I currently play a neck through Conklin clear wine finish and it is my favorite of all time, as far as tone. I had a natural finished one with the neck through feature which I personally liked a great deal and hope to get another one of those, soon. I play 4 string bass, electric upright, and have just started playing a Megatar.
I play in two blues bands and teach bass and guitar at J & L Music in Urbana, Ohio. I have met with and have had a lesson with John Jordan of the Chris Duarte Group and salivated over his custom made 28 fret Koa beauty.
